Toktok was founded in 1994, emerging out of the prosperous free party scene at that time where the numerous Toktok members organized Parties – mainly in squads. From the beginning on, Toktok focused on playing techno mostly live, plugging the whole studio in at the party location and going for a wild jam. Since then Toktok has slimmed down to the artists Nerk and Fabian Feyerabendt, released 27 records, and played in clubs around the globe. Their latest release is Bullet in the Head: The Remixes on Toktok Records (TTR15) featuring remixes of this years album Bullet In The Head.

Stefan Küchenmeister made his mark as DJ in the midnineties, both in his hometown Kassel as an Aufschwung Ost/Stammheim-resident and in Berlin-clubs like Tresor, Suicide or Electric Ballroom. Since 1999 Küchenmeister mainly published as producer for the Toktok-universe [V-Records, Zokzok, Toktok-Records], complementing with EPs and released on the label Hörspielmusik [Stammheim surrounding]. On the wheels of steel Küchenmeister is meanwhile well known from Russia to Japan, but he is also a wizard when it comes to knob twiddling. His last album was Anti Age on Bomzh / Toktok Records.

Bozzwell has always been an original, a one-off – a larger than life character just as willing to bare his soul as lay down a mind-warping dancefloor groove. Cocooned in a tiny studio on the top floor of a former steelworks in Sheffield, ‘Boz’ creates music that defies easy categorization. Straight-forward European techno this is not, he fuses the throbbing techno pulse of Berlin with the soft-centred futurepop of Cologne and the industrial heritage of hometown Sheffield. Next up is a full LP through Firm Records in october entitled” Bits and Pieces” which will feature the future hit “in my cucoon”, arguably the most straightforward dancefloor track on the album which will soon be bothering bassbins the world over. Plus the album sampler 12” , released in september which will feature album tracks such as “I Cant Be” remixed and rewired for the dancefloor by Firm and Kompakt stalwarts Justus Köhncke and Andre Kraml. The bass says ‘Sheffield bleep’, the beats say Berlin and the melodies Cologne. That’s Bozzwell all over!

Several years ago Technoboy Alexander clicked the “big time”-button on his sequencer and crawled out of the basement. Kowalski switched from Kanzleramt to Different to his own label Damage Music Berlin, sunglasses instead of Tresor-cellar-smell, say hello to Disco and Dub-Techno. Highly regarded as a seasoned live-act all over the world, let´s see what he has up his sleeve for this years Krautok!

Nerk (Toktok / V-Records) & Dirk Leyers (Closer Musik / Firm Records) got to know each other a few years ago. Ever since then they teamed up to produce bass-wobbling monster dance tracks with a strange dizzy twist, occasionally play live together and released seven records on MBF, V-Records, Firm Records, Speicher / Kompakt Extra and Klang so far. This year they released the AtAt 12" on Klang and did a remix for Bodo Elsels “Mai” on Turbo Recordings. Nerk & Dirk Leyers : only for the headstrong…

Jammin’ Unit aka Cem Oral, born as a son of a Turkish father, a Finnish mother and with German citizenship, startet his musical carrer as a teenager with 4-track-recorders and synthesizers. Since then he released tons of records and remixes, not only as “Jammin’ Unit” but in numerous cooperations like Air Liquide, Ultrahigh, Madonna 303 etc. Jammin’ Unit is not: Khan, that´s his brother. In 2007 he established his very own mastering studio Jammin Masters which we can only recommend for its superb work.

Erase aka Daniel Troberg has been producing and performing all kinds of electronic music since the early 90s under different pseudonyms. Sound Designer, Producer, DJ and Music Gear Expert from the Aaland Islands between Sweden and Finland now living in Gothenburg and working at ELEKTRON MUSIC MACHINES MAV AB, known for great gear like the Machinedrum, Sidstation, Monomachine and the upcoming Octatrack (maybe that one gets a field test this year, who knows). When in the studio he is cooking up the strangest sounds from a vast array of some incredibly hard to find hardware synthesizers, drummachines and effects. A broad range of influences but always nodding to the original creators of the groove and sticking to what matters most, rhythm and sound. Check out his set from Krautok 2009 and the video of him using his weapon of choice Machinedrum UW together with the iPad App Sound Squares.
